Daily Roots, is an platform that strengthens the cultural identity of the diaspora community, providing the target audience with an opportunity to grow by connecting with their heritage. This platform is made for them to connect with their love for fashion while honoring their cultural background.
PLATFORM FOR THE DIASPORA
I created Daily Roots as my graduation project for Daily Paper. A digital platform designed to honor and connect the global African diaspora. As part of this project, I conducted in depth research into how diaspora communities find belonging and representation through digital spaces. This helped shape a platform rooted in real needs, stories, and cultural connections.

The app offers a space where individuals can share their personal journeys and connect with others across continents, blending rich cultural heritage with Daily Paper’s modern aesthetic.
Daily Roots celebrates the uniqueness of each story while tracing the shared roots that define who we are. It bridges past and present, tradition and innovation, creating a living archive of identity, creativity, and community, a tribute to the strength and diversity of the diaspora.
MY ROLE
I was responsible for the concept development, conducted in depth research into how diaspora communities find belonging and representation through digital spaces, and designed all visual mock ups. The platform serves as a brand extension for Daily Paper, offering a new, community driven layer that goes beyond fashion. It focuses primarily on cultural exchange, and digital connection.
Daily Roots the platform is inspired by the ‘Tree of Life, a symbol of life, resilience, and cultural richness across African heritage. Daily Roots translates this in to a vibrant concept.
DAILY ROOTS APP
The Daily Roots app offers an platform that
connects the African diaspora community with fashion, culture, and heratige. By combining culture, community and fashion, while honoring the significance of past traditions, Daily Paper can stand out.​​​
Through personalized profiles, users can discover all members accros the globe, join cultural events, and engage with others through stories and photos. The app creates a space for meaningful connections.
The app reflects the urban and contemporary style of Daily Paper, with the brand’s visual identity mixed throughout the app. It is a digital community that extends the brand’s mission by connecting users to their heritage and the diaspora.

CONNECTING CULTURES
”The Traveler” target audience consists of young individuals from diverse African diaspora communities. Many feel a strong desire to discover their cultural identity, especially as they navigate the complexities of living in a multicultural society.
Daily Roots provides a unique opportunity for the target group, allowing Daily Paper to engage with the largest and most diverse audience. By offering a cultural exchange space, it strengthens the brand’s relationship with a growing, culturally aware demographic.
Daily Roots provides a space where, in some cases, they have never been acknowledged. The target audience is eager to share their culture while also learning from one another.
This platform allows individuals to connect deeply with their heritage, embracing their roots as they shape their own stories for the future.
