DISTURBIA

You'll wish it was a nightmare!

DISTURBIA is an abstract horror film that explores the descent of an artist into madness. It fuses surrealist cinema with classic horror elements, revealing a story that delves into the depths of the human psyche.

INSPIRERED BY RICK OWENS

This movie was originally inspired by Rick Owens distorted silhouettes in his F/W 24 collection and an overall gloomy atmosphere created. As an independent designer to showcase during this project, we chose „Distorted Online“, the monsters mask was designed and made by him.

With this movie we hope to bring attention to struggles that probably every creative is familiar with: Self doubt, comparison and outside pressure, can really take a toll on a person’s self perception. To tell our story, we take inspiration from the style of classic cinema. Shifting away from the glossy, hyper-digitalized world we live in and turning towards the gritty darkness of the past.

DISTURBIA STORYLINE

''No one is as bad as you. And now take off that horrible canvas and burn it to the ashes.“

This story follows a tortured artist who is struggling to complete a series of work. As he increasingly puts pressure on himself to live up to his father’s expectations, he starts seeing a dark presence appear in his work. In an attempt to fix the work, he descends into madness, fighting the monstrous manifestation of his negative thoughts.

MY ROLE PRE-SHOOT

For the Disturbia project, I was co-responsible for the full

pre-shoot preparation. This included finding a suitable location, arranging funding through a GoFundMe campaign, buying clothing for the shoot, and creating mood boards to define the atmosphere, hair, and make-up. I also sourced and prepared necessary props in advance to ensure a cohesive and well executed production.

MY ROLE DURING SHOOT

During the Disturbia shoot, I took charge of art direction by overseeing hair and (SFX) make-up, preparing the blood scene, and maintaining continuity of hair and make-up throughout filming. I ensured the actors’ outfits were accurate for each scene, kept track of what was being filmed (such as the sleeping scene), and regularly checked in with the actors to support their well being on set.
